Guiding Questions:

What are your initial thoughts about the concept of Literacy with ICT (LwICT)?
excited to be a part of it, i have been trying to convince teachers in our building of the up side of technoloy and if it is coming from the province it may be more successful, as teachers if we do not change with the times we will be left behind,

What implementation barriers for LwICT do you foresee at Senior Years?
The biggest barrier will be cost, many schools do not have the technology to allow teachers to take the ICT to the next level, you will also have the teachers that refuse to change whether it be because they only have a few years left or why would I change things, the way I do it now works just fine. Teachers I think do not realize that students are carrying google around in their pockets, so what type of questions are you going to ask to engage students
What opportunities does LwICT present for Senior Years?
it allow teachers to take their teaching to the next level in terms of what they can offer students, think of the possiblities for science teachers to be able to watch a surgery with their students in real time, how cool will that be for learners, or other students doing a history project to be able to converse with students from that specific area of the world and ask questions.

What professional learning is required initially to prepare Senior Years teachers to begin to use the LwICT continuum?,
Teachers need to be educated on what is out there and how to use it correctly, teachers to often will not look at something new because there has been one negative incident in the media about that new tool. Educating teachers and admin is the key, just look at the benefits of cell phones but why are they banned, becasue of a few incidents in different parts of the province, country and world

What types of ICT do you currently have in your Senior Years classroom?
smart board, sento, cell phone polls everywhere,TI smartview, recording of lessons (with smart recorder and audio) so students that are absent can get caught up from home and will soon be able to dump the lessons on to the ipod so that if they are to be away for an extended period will be able to come back to class somewhat caught up, interactive problem solving with the smart board, videos to educate students on the web and the implication of what they do and what they may be able to do in the future, Any inservice or meeting I attend and find something new I will share it with my classes so they have the opportunity to try new things, for example I showed the Jonny Chang smartboard video and three days later a student of mine came back and had made his own interactive board with the wii remote, or I use protopage and now a number of grade 12 students who use the net a lot are using protopage as well.

What types of ICT are available to you in your school, but not in your classroom?
I am fortunate enough to be the one in the school with all the new toys and so teachers are coming to my room to see what is new

What subjects and grades do you teach and how do you currently use ICT to enhance student learning?
30 Applied and Pre-Calc, 40 Applied and 45A Advanced Math and Calculus see above response for what we are doing in class, everything we do is on the smartboard and has some sort of interactive activity
